2002 - Present    Engineer Technician for Curl & Associates, Inc., Centralia, Illinois
 
Design and construction inspection of sanitary sewer trunk line upgrades, including pipeline rehabilitations and trunk line replacements, to reduce and/or eliminate sanitary sewer overflow and overflow discharge for municipalities. Design and construction inspection of sanitary sewer lift station replacement under existing flow conditions.

Projects include lake restoration, storm sewer and sanitary sewer projects, waterlines, topographic surveying, and construction observation of street construction projects.

Safety Manager  2000-2002
Manage the Safety Program to exceed the requirements of OSHA to provide a safe facility for the associates to work.

Investigate any incidents to find the root cause so as to eliminate future incidents.  Created reports to record all incidents and report them to Staff showing OSHA Recordables and Lost Time accidents and trend accidents by area and severity.  Meet and consult with State and Federal agencies about safety concerns.  Respond to any major incident 24 hours a day as needed.

Maintenance Scheduler / Planner  1994-2000
Maintained machine history of production and maintenance department equipment.

Developed and maintained preventative maintenance (PM) program.  Created reports to show PM completion on monthly and annual basis.  Developed PM sign-off system to allow the maintenance department to meet the requirements of QS-9000.  Generated and maintained PM work orders and repair orders.  Scheduled maintenance work for weekends and holidays.  Determined the natural gas needed and negotiated with Illinois Power and Gas brokers to buy the gas at the most cost-effective price.  Monitored gas usage, adjusted the nomination due to unusual weather or production requirements.  Filled in as maintenance supervisor during vacations, weekends and holidays as needed.  Assisted in ordering parts for PMs and repairs.

Environmental Engineer  1991-2002
Managed all waste in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency rules and regulations.  Apply for IEPA air and water permits as needed per equipment updates or rule changes.

Managed system through all agency audits without receiving any fines or major violations.  Reduced hazardous waste to non-hazardous status prior to disposal.  Assisted with oil recycling, sending in periodic samples for lab analysis and logged the sample results.  Obtained a hazardous waste building to store waste prior to disposal.  Designed modifications to the retention ponds to act as oil separation basins in case of oil spills into the storm water system.  Designed wash-off area discharge treatment system to remove discharge from the storm water system.  Surveyed plant to identify and permit or remove all industrial discharges into storm water or sanitary sewer systems.  Chartered the creation of the Southern Illinois Environmental Managers.  Obtained a class "K" wastewater treatment license.
